Have your say on Dunoon’s CHORD regeneration plans at drop-in event
You can have your say on Dunoon’s £30million regeneration plans at a meeting in Queens Hall.
The drop-in event, which is open to everyone, will take place on Wednesday, January 25 from 12pm-8.30pm, and is to update residents on progress regarding the CHORD plans.
The Dunoon CHORD project team will be on hand throughout the afternoon and evening to discuss the updated plans for the Queens Hall and Waterfront areas.
Maps and plans will be available for those taking part to discuss with the project team, and help them to contribute their own thoughts to the process.
Councillor Bruce Marshall, chairman of the Dunoon CHORD Project Board, encouraged people to attend the drop-in event.
He said: “This is another fantastic opportunity for the community to see the exciting plans for the waterfront area, speak to the team taking the project forward and understand how the proposals are intended to progress over the next few months and beyond.
“I would strongly encourage anyone with an interest in the area to come along and speak to the team.”
Councillor Marshall also said that the drop-in event in September was very successful with around 230 people in attendance and that he hoped to see a large turnout again this time.
He added: “These are important changes to the town and waterfront area and a catalyst for further economic regeneration.
“Improving the appearance and performance of the Queens Hall is seen as essential to the success of the waterfront project, with the preferred option being the extension of the building and refurbishing the interior to allow it to accommodate the Visitor Information Centre, an improved and more flexible events hall, a soft play facility and roof terrace.
“The proposals also include the relocation of Dunoon Town Library to the building alongside the cafe/bar, all overlooking Castle Gardens and the improved waterfront area.”
