Council fined after man's death in Dunoon pier tragedy
19 AugustArgyll and Bute Council has been fined £20,000 after a man drowned when his car drove from the Coal Pier car park in Dunoon - which had no safety barrier.
Duncan MacGillivray (75) drowned when his Vauxhall Astra fell into the Clyde from the pier after he put it in the wrong gear.
Argyll and Bute Council admitted failing to assess the risks before opening the car park in May 2006.
